I'm a Scottish fiddler based in southeastern Pennsylvania, US. I started my journey as a Suzuki kid, and then began classical lessons under alternate methods as a slightly older kid. I first began taking an interest in traditional styles of fiddle around 10, and started with taking old-time and bluegrass lessons with a local fiddler. From there, we figured out that I liked "Celtic" music, so I began taking lessons with an Irish fiddle instructor. After a few years with her, she made the observation that I tended to pick out Scottish tunes... so I went to my first Scottish fiddle camp (Strathgheny School of Scottish Fiddling) in 2018, and haven't looked back since. I currently take lessons with David Gardner from VA.
I also seem to have grown out of my "teenage rebellion" phase that involved refusing to play classical music... I have found that while I don't enjoy Classical or Romantic era pieces very much, I do enjoy some pieces from Baroque-era repertoire. My latest challenge to myself is to memorize the first Bach Unaccompanied Cello Suite.
