Peregrine Falcon (Tundra Subspecies)

Falco peregrinus tundrius

Say hello to Saphira, a Tundra Peregrine Falcon who was hatched in 2017 and joined our hunting team in the summer of 2021. Unfortunately, she had a nasty case of West Nile virus over the summer of 2022 and one of the long-term effects is a severe reduction in her visual acuity. Due to her vision issues, she is now a part of our education team. She is however a happy, healthy bird, and can get around her specialized enclosure without issue. She also enjoys tearing the feathers off of quail wings before eating.
