Feeling Toothy?

Tercel (male) Gyrfalcon x Saker hybrid falcon

Falcons possess a notch in their beak, called a Tominal Tooth, which they use for severing the spinal cord/neck of their prey. Not one other type of raptor has this specialized beak. A reason for this may be because falcons feed almost exclusively on birds, whereas most hawks and eagles were designed to feed on a mostly mammalian or reptilian diet. From the smallest Pygmy Falcon to the largest Arctic Gyrfalcon, all falcons possess this notch, while no hawk, eagle nor owl has this small 'tooth.' It is important to note that the Tominal Tooth isn't really a tooth, it's just a notch in the beak.
